North Georgia Fair 2009

This evening we made our annual trip to the North Georgia Fair. I love going to the fair even though I know it is dirty and all the workers are creepy! It is great people watching! Jack loves playing the games to see what he can win! Caroline really enjoys riding all the rides.

Jack played toss the darts at the balloon, throw the ball into the bowl to win a gold fish and pick a duck game. He won a stuffed animal at all three games. He even won a gold fish but we talked him into trading it in for a stuffed animal.

Caroline could not ride any rides last year since she wasn't 30 inches. But luckily this year she was exactly 30 inches and even stood on her tip toes just to make sure she was tall enough. She road 4 different rides and loved each one. She will be ready for Disney in a few months! Jack also rode the rides with his little sister.

First Day of Soccer

Jack started his first official day of soccer! He is playing with a YMCA team where they practice each Saturday and then play a short game. We weren't sure he was gong to enjoy playing but so far he is loving it! This week they just practiced and met all of their team members. Riley is also playing but they are not on the same team. They will get to play each other several times during the season. Stay tuned for more pictures as the season continues.

I Can Help

Today, we had a plumber at the house to fix our leaking kitchen sink. Jack always loves when a repairman comes to the house and it seems they come more often than we would prefer! While Jack was watching him he told me he would be right back. He ran upstairs to get his own tool box. Here he is helping the plumber!

Do you need a tool?
He truly loves to fix work with his hands!

Camping Out During Flood 09

Jack has been wanting to "camp out" in his tent. Since they were out of school for the flooding and we have been stuck inside for a week, he decided he could put his tent up in his room. Dad put up his tent. Jack got his flashlight, blanket and pillows and was ready to go camping. He even invited Caroline to join him and really wanted her to sleep with him. Didn't think it would be a smooth night if both of them slept together! Jack slept in the tent part of the night and then ended up in his bed for the remainder of the night. He is enjoying playing in the tent . . . especially at nap time!

Student of the Week

Jack was chosen as Student of the Week. With this special title, he gets to bring home Little Max. Little Max is their teddy bear mascot for the class. The student of the week brings Little Max home and takes care of him for the weekend. He keeps Max with him at all times and then writes a story in the journal and places a picture to share with the other students. Since Jack was sick, we had a low key weekend. It was nice to have Little Max around to keep Jack company. He got to go Jack's favorite restaurant . . . La Parilla, watch lots of movies (since Jack was sick) and play with all of his toys. Jack even let him sleep with his three bunnies! We hope Little Max will visit again.

Big Wheel Fun

The kids have big wheels over at Pop Pop and Cook Cook's house. Jack has been riding his down hills for sometime now but Caroline is now an expert! Since Pop Pop and Cook Cook were out of town for the week, we brought their big wheels to the house. They both loved going down the hill in front of the house. We were quiet impressed with their fearless riding.

Jack 4 yr and Caroline 2 yr stats

Today, we headed to the doctor for their yearly check-ups. I've never seen Jack so excited about going to the doctor. He knew he was going to be getting a couple of shots but was acting like a big boy. He kept telling me he was not going to cry at shot time. I assured him that if he cried, it would be perfectly fine. Of course he did not cry! Jack weighs 31 1/4 pounds and is in the 10th percentile. He has been in the 10th percentile for weight since birth. He is now 40 inches tall and in the 50th percentile. He passed his hearing and eye sight exams. I've told him several times I now know he can hear me so there are no excuses in not listening. He is growing up to be such a sweet young boy.

Caroline also had her check up and was not as excited as Jack. She did do better than in the past but was a little clingy to Mom! She now weighs 21 1/4 pounds and is in the 3rd percentile. She had been in the negative side but is now on the growth chart (they have recently adjusted the chart)! Her height is now 32 inches and in the 7th percentile. Yes, she is still just a peanut and is most likely going to be petite. She had one shot and cried for just a short time.

Happy 4th Birthday Thomas!

Yesterday, we celebrated Thomas' 4th Birthday with a Mickey Mouse theme. Thomas will be spending his actual birthday with the real Mickey and Minnie at Disney World. He had his party at Southern Prep which is a cool gymnastics type place. The kids loved the rope swing, bee swing, foam pit and trampolines. It was a really fun party complete with Mickey Mouse cake! We have celebrated 3 of Thomas' 4 birthday's and it has been fun watching him grow. Thanks for inviting us to celebrate your special day and wishing you a magical birthday at Disney!

Jack's Fishing Trip

Pop Pop took Jack and Ed to a company picnic that include barbecue and fishing. This was Jack's first time officially going fishing and he did awesome! He caught a total of five fish. He was so excited and could have stayed all day according to Dad and Pop Pop. Jack is already telling a fish story! If you ask him how big was his fish, he puts out his arms as wide as possible. He is going to be a true fisherman. Dad and Jack are hoping to go back again next year. I think the look on Jack's face says it all.
